Shands Nursing Impact Committee

The Shands Nursing Research Clinical Impact Committee (RCIC) was formed to provide research implementation support to researchers who have a study that requires resources from a Shands nursing team. This support can include protocol-specific analysis, planning, communication, and identification of workflow strategies that will ensure that the nursing staff is a partner in the successful implementation of your study.

What Studies Benefit from an RCIC Review?

The RCIC will liaison with Shands nursing staff in your planned study location(s) to help determine how best to implement your protocol within those location(s). If your protocol includes nursing services at any of the following UF Health locations, your study will certainly benefit from a RCIC review.

Nursing or Respiratory Therapist Services in:

  • Bone Marrow Transplant
  • Burn Center
  • Congenital Heart Center
  • ICU
  • Inpatient Floors
  • Labor and Delivery
  • PACU
  • Radiation Oncology

Services include activities like research phlebotomies, vitals, and chart recording.  The primary intent of the review is to help ensure that the nursing staff are aware of any special requirements and resources that are needed to successfully support your research.
