New Epic Research Billing Review Guidance

Effective immediately:

The existing guidance requiring the clinical research community to perform their Epic Research Billing Review (aka charge bucketing) within 7-days has changed.  The new guidance requires that these reviews occur every 72-hours.  The companion “Research Charges Awaiting Coordinator Review” reports have also increased in frequency to three-times per week to aid in the review of subject charges.

In January 2018, Ms. Cindy Charyulu joined the UF Health administration as the Vice President for Revenue Cycle.  As an initiative to improve revenue cycle metrics, Ms. Charyulu along with her team in the Research Billing Office (RBO), led by Candice Brown-Bishop, have received support to make this enhancement to the Research Billing Review timeline.

As a commitment to the UF clinical research community, Ms. Charyulu and the RBO have agreed to partner towards a single Research Billing Review in the not too distant future.  This will be supported by the current Epic 2017 upgrade and an interface with OnCore (CRPC) that can begin testing in summer 2018.  The RBO is working with the OCR on a project timeline to seek this desired outcome.
